Sitges: town finances
The town council's debt and spending per resident compared with the councils of similar coastal towns. Councils borrow within limits set by Spanish law (the Local Finance Law and the Budget Stability Law) and need approval above them.
Council debt per resident
Debt outstanding at 31 December over the registered population, €.
Council debt per resident,
Council non-financial spending per resident
Non-financial spending in the executed budget (chapters 1–7, so debt repayment is left out), € per resident. Divided by registered residents. The seasonal population chart (People and income) shows how many more people are present on an average day in each town.
Council investment per resident
Capital spending (chapter 6: works, equipment), € per resident. It moves a lot from year to year.
What the council spends on
Council spending on this programme area, € per resident (executed budget, programme classification).
Spending by area,
€ per resident, executed budget.
Areas include debt repayments, so they add up to more than the non-financial spending chart above. Councils assign shared costs differently, especially to general administration. Sitges reports almost nothing under public debt since 2019, although its recorded debt fell from €3.4m (end of 2020) to €0.3m (end of 2021); the figures are shown as the council reported them.
