Catalonia: what the Generalitat spends on

Spending by the Generalitat and its public bodies, by function, compared with the governments of the other autonomous communities, in € per resident. The functions follow the same UN classification (COFOG) as the Spain page. Regions do not all hold the same powers, so some differences reflect who is responsible for what rather than how much is spent on it. Catalonia and the Basque Country run their own police and prisons; Navarre has a partial police force; courts' administration is devolved in most but not all regions. Totals and general public services are not comparable across regions: Navarre's include its payment to the State and its councils' general funding; the Basque provincial councils, which collect taxes and pay the State, are outside these figures; the Balearic and Canary governments pass large sums to their island councils.

Regional government spending on this function, € per resident a year (not adjusted for inflation).

, by region,

€ per resident.

How spending is split,

€ per resident and share of all regional government spending.

National accounts basis: repayments of debt are not spending, interest is. General-purpose transfers to town and island councils sit in general public services; transfers for a specific purpose are counted under that function.
